Audio Stream Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What if the WWR stream appears to be
down?
If you get a "File Not Found" message from our
stream links, then our stream may be down temporarily. In
case we don't know about it, please drop us a line at help@womenrockradio.com,
it only takes us a minute to reboot and get the stream
back on.
What do you recommend if I'm trying to listen to WWR
over a slow modem?
The 24K Mono stream.
I often get rebuffering messages.
Anything I can do?
Yes, lots of rebuffering usually means your Internet
connection speed is slow. Try listening using one of our
slower streams like the 56K Stereo, and if that doesn't
work use the 24K Mono stream.
I have a real slow computer and am
having trouble with the stream.
We've heard rumors that folks with older, slower computers
have better luck with an older version of RealPlayer.
I'm having trouble listening to the
RealAudio stream on my Mac. What can I do?
If you are using MAC OS9, and are unable to connect to the
stream, try the following:
- Launch RealPlayer
- Choose "Preferences..." from the
"View" menu
- Click on the "Transport" tab
- Click the "Use specified transports" button in
the top section
- Click the "RTSP Settings..." button
- Set transport for RTSP to be HTTP only by clicking the
"Use HTTP Only" button
- Click "OK"
- Then Click "OK" again to exit the preferences
section
- Quit RealPlayer
- Try playing the KALX stream again
What should I do if I get a message
asking me to "run auto configure"?
On some machines, the initial attempt to connect to our
stream may produce a message prompt asking you to
"run auto configure". By clicking OK, your
player may then be able to start the audio stream after
trying several different connection protocols. The
auto-configure procedure will not disable your player even
if you are still unable to connect to our live stream.
I can't listen to your audio stream
at work. What gives?
Sometimes if you can't access the stream or see
"undefined" error messages, you are probably
behind a firewall. Some unenlightened businesses filter
what their employees can see on the Internet at work, and
unfortunately, Internet radio is a prime candidate for
being blocked. If this is happening to you, your only hope
is turning someone in your IT department into a WRR fan. |
