About me

Born and raised in Chicago south side Disco Dan began his journey as a DJ in 1983. He began spinning at basement parties and high school proms before he attended high school.

In 1985 Disco enrolled into Mendel Catholic College Perp. At that time Mendel was well known for their bi-level house parties and Disco knew this was his passion. One of the most memorable parties Disco ever witnessed was the night Jamie Principle and the Hot Mix 5 performed on stage. That's when Disco fell in love with house music. Years later Disco met Jeff Sims, a resident DJ of the Warehouse Nightclub on Randolph & Lake Street. Jeff introduced Disco to Ron Carroll who was looking for a DJ to open for him at his birthday party. Without listening to one of my mixes, Ron Carroll asked Disco to open for him at the Warehouse. That was his big break and he ran with it. Ron was so impressed he later asked Disco to open for him at clubs like The Clubhouse, Kabooms, The Generator and The Spot.

In 1992 Disco tampered a bit with radio on W.K.K.C. 89.3 At that time the style at the station was mostly underground and tracks. Disco gave the station a broader variety of style with his deep disco mixes. He made friends with Lloyd Dev(ChicagoHouseRadio.com), Gerald "Jam Master K"(WorldVibeRadio.com), Ray Dilla, Hugo H, Walter "Get Down" Brown and Romell "Chilly C" Carter. From that point Disco kept a tight bond with Lloyd Dev, Gerald "JMK" Kelly and Ray Dilla. Years pass by and Lloyd Dev introduced WWW.CHICAGOHOUSERADIO.COM to the world in 2004. Disco was brought on as a resident Saturday night DJ and Mid-West Correspondent. Disco now had the ears of the world to listen to his vibe and took advantage of it.

In 2006 Disco made a life decision to move to Toronto, Canada to marry his true love. It was a bit scary to leave everything behind in Chicago but Disco knew he had to make that move. Now living in Toronto, Ontario Disco met David James. David was a resident Dj of Pravda Vodka Bar and he gave Disco his break to DJ there. The people of Toronto welcomed Disco and his unique style.

Now that Disco lives in Toronto he has changed his Dj name to D Styles. A more marketable name. He has not lost his love for disco music as he plays it all. From hip hop to soca, D Styles has adapted his Chicago style with the island urban roots of Toronto.

"If you can dance to it, I will play it!"
