The Saturday Dance Party got its start 2 summers ago when a former listener of Reality One Radio from the U.K. asked me if I had any club dance music. When I asked him why, he said he was a part owner in a dance club in Birmingham England and needed a fill-in disc jockey for his Saturday night crowd. They ran Reality One live in the club for 5 weeks and the draw was getting bigger each week. I was supposed to be paid for the show plus they were supposed to put in an internet cafe in the club as well. Reality One Radio had a local Skype telephone number in the U.K. for requests from the club plus an open Yahoo chat messenger session for the same as well and people were requesting songs live. I did my best to get to all of the requests sometimes even going to ITunes and acquiring songs I didn't have that they requested. After repeated discussions about the contract we had, the promised to follow through on both things. Neither one happened. I told them I would be unable to continue it if the contract wasn't honored like most businesses. My listener said the other bosses felt that a real body was better than a remote one. I agreed and pulled the show. As for the future?? Reality One Radio needs YOUR support and listenership if it is to remain viable. Spread the word unless you want us to dissapear like the dance party did. The costs of running an internet radio station are not super expensive but why spend the money for 2 or 3 listeners at a time?? Tell your family, tell your friends. Show your support.
Thanks!
